The Midpoint Cafe will be open on Tuesday, July 19th at 8:30 a.m.; however, will are unable to serve meals until Wednesday, July 20th (at the earliest) as the compressor on our large walk-in refrigerator decided to quit operating. Until the equipment is repaired, we will have only a limited supply of pies until the refrigerator is repaired; with our cream pies being the most limited. We will still have drinks and coffee available, along with an assorment of baked goods.
The gift shop will remain open during this time.
We are not sure when the repairs will be made but will provide an update when we re-open as a full service cafe.
Sorry for any inconvenience and thank you in adavance for your understanding.

We have done a lot of work over the winter refreshening the inside the cafe including repainting the interior walls, shining up the old tile floor original to the cafe, replacing the old "popcorn" ceiling in the cafe with a refreshed textured ceiling, and improved the overall energy efficiency of the old place with some additional insulation and LED lighting. We are also constantly restocking the gift shop with many new items, including exclusive Midpoint items.
Welcome to the offical webpage of the MidPoint Cafe and Gift Shop. We are located at the traditionally accepted halfway point of Historic Route 66, the midpoint between Chicago and Santa Monica. Accross the street from the cafe is the "Welcome To The Midpoint" sign, one of the top photographed signs along Route 66. We are also the ONLY place on Route 66 to get Midpoint RT66 Gifts and Souvenirs, so please stop in and see our gift shop inside the cafe. We have been told by many visitors that the MidPoint Cafe and Gift Shop is one of the best gift shops along all of Route 66. So see for yourself!!!
During the first 2 months of the 2016 season (April 1 through May 30th), we have had folks from 46 countries visit the Midpoint Cafe and Gift Shop. Home of the MidPoint "Ugly" Pies!
"Nothing Real Ugly, Just Real Yummy!!!
Completely homemade and one of the best pie crusts you'll ever taste. We try to have at least eight (8) different flavored pies available each day, from fruit pies like apple, peach, or cherry, to our cream pies, including coconut, chocolate, and peanut butter/chocolate cream. We also served Chocolate "Elvis" Cream Pie (chocolate cream with peanut butter and banana), banana cream pie, and several vanilla / fruit swirl pies. We also do a fanatstic and delicious "Texas Pecan" pie, and our house specialty, a chocolate chip and pecan pie which when warmed, tastes like a large chocolate chip cookie straight out of the oven. We are adding another 8 different flavor pies to our offering this year and now offer a Tennessee whiskey chocolate pecan pie. We try to have least 4 pie flavors that are standard every day, (coconut, apple, Texas Pecan, and chcoclate cream being our daily staples) and another 4 flavors (minimum) changing every few days.
So stop by and try a slice! Maybe top it off with a scoop of vanilla bean, choclate, or cookies & cream ice cream...YUMMY!!!
We are also known for our all fresh delicious burgers, that even the local ranchers keep coming back to feast on!!! Always fresh, never frozen patties of Angus Beef, our grilled ham & cheese sandwich, and our Fried Bologna sandwich. But remember, we are located in Texas, so our portions are big, like everything is in Texas!!!
Our normal business hours are 8:30 a.m. to 4 p.m., 7 days per week. Please remember that we are on Central Time, so if you are travelling east from New Mexico, you change time (lose an hour) at the New Mexico / Texas state line. So please plan accordingly.
The grill closes every day at 3:00 p.m.
We are open April 1 through October 31st. We will be closed November through the end of March (the winter months)... Occasionally, we do need to close sometime for a short period of time during the day due to pre-scheduled tours or something similar, so please call ahead (806-538-6379) to see if we have any tours scheduled when you may be visiting. However, please be aware, that sometimes we do not know more then 24-hours in advance of tours.
