The Midpoint Cafe and Gift Shop is open for the 2017. We welcome Michael Hunt to the Midpoint Cafe family. Michael will be running the cafe side of the business; handling the meal service. Michael's specialty is Texas-style barbeque; inclusing brisket, pulled pork, chicken, hot-linked sausages, and ribs. These will be in addition to our famous Midpoint burgers, fried bologna and other sanwiches. Michael is also serving homemade devil-egg potato salad and homemade cole slaw. He also specializes in a delicious banana pudding and cinnamon - raisin bread pudding.
Dennis will continue with the day to day operations and baking our world-famous "Midpoint Ugly Pies", as well as our Midpoint Gift Shop. Over the winter, Dennis has been keeping up his pie baking skills during the winter off-season and will be serving a few new flavored pies this 2017 season. So far, we are up to 36 different types of pies offered at the Midpoint Cafe.
Our normal business hours are 8:30 a.m. to 4 p.m. (Central Time), 7 days per week. Meal service is currenlty limited to 4-days per week; Thursday through Sunday. On the remaining days (7-days per week), our delicious pies, other baked goods, and drinks will be served. Our gift shop will also remain open.
Please note that if you are traveling east from New Mexico, the time changes at the NM / TX state line (we are one hour ahead of NM).
Welcome to the offical webpage of the MidPoint Cafe and Gift Shop. We are located at the traditionally accepted halfway point of Historic Route 66, the midpoint between Chicago and Santa Monica. Accross the street from the cafe is the "Welcome To The Midpoint" sign, one of the top photographed signs along Route 66. We are also the ONLY place on Route 66 to get Midpoint RT66 Gifts and Souvenirs, so please stop in and see our gift shop inside the cafe. We have been told by many visitors that the MidPoint Cafe and Gift Shop has one of the best gift shops along all of Route 66. Come see for yourself!!!
8n the 2016 season, we have had folks from 78 international countries and all 50 States visit the Midpoint Cafe and Gift Shop. Home of the MidPoint "Ugly" Pies!
"Nothing Real Ugly, Just Real Yummy!!!
Completely homemade and one of the best pie crusts you'll ever taste. We try to have at least eight (8) different flavored pies available each day, from fruit pies like apple, peach, or cherry, to our cream pies, including coconut, chocolate, and peanut butter/chocolate cream. We also served Chocolate "Elvis" Cream Pie (chocolate cream with peanut butter and banana), banana cream pie, lemon cream, and several vanilla / fruit swirl pies.
We also do a fanatstic and delicious "Texas Pecan" pie, a chocolate chip and pecan cookie pie (which when warmed, tastes like a large chocolate chip cookie straight out of the oven), and our house specialty... Tennessee whiskey chocolate pecan pie. New for 2017...bourbon spiced apple struesel pie and apple moonshine chess pie.
We try to have least 4 pie flavors that are standard every day, (coconut, apple, Texas Pecan, and chcoclate cream being our daily staples) and another 4 flavors (minimum) changing every few days.
So stop by and try a slice! Maybe top it off with a scoop of vanilla bean, choclate, or cookies & cream ice cream...YUMMY!!!
Our normal business hours are 8:30 a.m. to 4 p.m., 7 days per week. Please remember that we are on Central Time, so if you are travelling east from New Mexico, you change time (lose an hour) at the New Mexico / Texas state line. So please plan accordingly.
